Hi Ramblers, It’s the season of love, and all the happy feelings are in the air! To all of you who are celebrating Valentine’s day on Thursday, congratulations! And to those who are in long distance relationships or practicing self-love this holiday, I’m sending you good vibes as well. This season, my boyfriend is studying abroad in Italy, so we’re not able to do gifts this year. However, almost seven years of gift giving has definitely given me some great experience in that department! So if you’ll still needing ideas to inspire your Valentine’s Day, check them out below!
Be My Personalized Valentine
I think the best gifts come from the heart, and regardless of if your significant other is a male or female, doing something personalized makes a big difference. Back in high school, I would craft personalized scrapbooks of our relationship for my boyfriend every year, and they act as a great keepsake of early memories today to reflect back on. I’ve also done picture frames with a collage of different photos as well to serve as good, personalized gifts. Remember, it doesn’t have to be expensive, it just has to come from the heart!
Classy and Casual
Now, for those of who are in relatively new relationships and aren’t ready to throw your heart on your sleeve with a personalized gift, you can never go wrong with a classic. Flowers, teddy bears, chocolates...I’ve seen it all and still have two of the giant teddy bears in my bedroom to prove it. If you’re in a new relationship, keeping it classic and simple is a great way to celebrate the holiday, with the right amount of appreciation, without overdoing it. It’s the thought that counts, and no one is going to say no to chocolate and flowers!
Cupid’s arrows pointing to a night out with the girls? That is totally alright, so spread that love amongst your friends. If you’re doing gifts with your girlfriends, I recommend wine, customized mugs, a few good Chick Flick films, or spending a day at the spa to get your nails done.
Gifts for the Self-Love Sweetheart
Don’t have a Valentine this year? That’s ok! You still deserve to treat yourself and the holiday is all about celebrating love, so why not love yourself? Make the day at about you by buying your favorite food, splurging on dessert, and treating yourself to a gift you’ve been looking forward to. My recommended go-tos are a new outfit I’ve been eyeing, a video game, or maybe even donating to a charity that supports a cause you’re passionate about. No matter what, practice self love!
The Best Gifts are Experiences
Regardless of what stage of a relationship you’re in or who you’re spending this heart filled holiday with, the best gifts you can give are memories and experiences. Whether it’s concert tickets, festivals, ski weekends, a dinner out, picnics, ice skating, or a trip to the local ice cream bar; spending time with the ones you loved most is the best way to make the most of this Valentine’s Day. Even if you only have a few bucks, take your loved ones to the movies or on a hike, something simple with memories that will last for a long time.
Anyways, happy Valentine’s Day Ramblers! I hope it’s filled with happy memories and lots of love, no matter how you’re spending it. Much love to you all!
